Hands Up For Palestine

"In the sixteenth century, Central Africa was a territory of peace and happy civilization. Traders travelled thousands of miles from one side of the continent to another without molestation. The tribal wars from which the European pirates claimed to deliver the people were sham-fights, it was a great battle when half - a - dozen men were killed. It was on a peasantry in many respects superior to the serfs in the large areas of Europe, that the slave trade fell." -- C.L.R. James The Black Jacobins 1932

ON December 10th a local newspaper reported that a press conference was held to launch a boxing event titled a 'Blast From The Past' which is to take place in The Bahamas early next year.
.
.
The main bout headlining the event is Meacher vs Anderson in a Lightweight exhibition match.
.
.
According to the report, the promoters of the event aim to revive the boxing community and they also believe that boxing can be a means to provide positive youth development.
.
.
The report stated that a government official was on hand for the launch of the event and he pledged the government's committment to athletic development and its wish to create an atmosphere for local and foreign boxers to fight and train here in this country.
.
.
The article also mentions the fact that the launch of the event was taking place on December 10th which marked 40 years since The Great Ali fought his final career fight in Ali vs Berbick in The Bahamas in December 1981.
.
.
In 1964 at the age of 22 Ali beat Liston and became the Heavyweight Champion of The World.
.
.
Ali was a master of the sweet science and he was considered to be one of the greatest fighters on the planet.
.
.
While Ali was Champion of the world, international white power was busy oppressing and exploiting non-white peoples, including the Vietnamese people in what is known as the Vietnam War.
.
.
White power starts the wars, and then they push for poor people, especially black and brown poor people, to fight the wars and against each other.
.
.
Ali knew Brother Malcolm X.
.
.
Malcolm X not only spoke about Africa and the horrible conditions of slavery on African people, but he also spoke about white powers attempt to subjugate other non-white people.
.
.
Malcolm X spoke about how in the 19th century England tried to turn the Chinese people into a nation of opium addicts.
.
.
Malcolm X also spoke about the House Negro and the Field Negro in black communities, and how white power nurtures or destroys these kind of forces in our people.
.
.
Ali - The Champion of the world and one of the greatest fighters on the planet - was like Africa before the coming of the white man.
.
.
Ali was busy to himself trying to use and  develop his natural skills to feed his family and build his community. Then white power - who had done much wrong to black people -  knocks on the door and demands that he has to cross the ocean to fight another man - who has done no wrong to black people - on foreign land in the interest of white power.
.
.
The Great Ali said No.
.
.
He was stripped of his Heavyweight Title and his boxing career was impacted.
.
.
Ali would come back later on to regain the Heavyweight Title two more times after that.
.
.
Capitalism is in a crisis and international white power always wants to eradicate the resistance of the oppressed.
.
.
African people cannot allow the capitalist media to define our world within their definition of who they say are the Good Guys or the Bad Guys.
.
.
The most blatant representation of this Good Guy vs Bad Guy white power point of view is expressed against the people of Palestine.
.
.
The ruling class in Israel is connected to the white ruling class in Southern Africa. They are both part of the international white capitalist class which rests on a foundation of the exploitation of the labour and resources of Africa and African people.
.
.
African people have a history of standing in solidarity with the people of Palestine and we must not forget their plight.
.
.
Brothers Malcolm X and Brother Ali have passed onto The Ancestors.
.
.
Today we have the Burning Spear Newspaper which is the voice of the international African working class and and we have The Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice Peace and Reparations.
