This collection of essays is a product of a symposium on Jukanoo and Religion in The Bahamas, which was sponsored by the Department of Religious Studies, the School of Social Sciences, The College of The Bahamas in March 2002.
The essays in this book, written by academics and Junkanoo experts, present a rich array of differing perspectives on Junkanoo and Religion. They represent an attempt to explore, understand and appreciate the different facets of Junkanoo, its art forms, symbolism, leadership styles, music and its relationship to Christianity in Bahamian society.
