When I decided to host an African Pop Up Shop I wasn’t sure how it would be received by the public. Rather quickly I realized that Africans in The Bahamas love Africa, and all things African, just as much as me. The response to the African Pop Up Shop was overwhelming. And the support was more than what I could have imagined.
A great African leader, Kwame Nkrumah, once said, “I am not African because I was born in Africa but because Africa was born in me.” All of us connect with Africa because it’s who we are, plain and simple. Africa is our homeland and the great unifier for every African (black person) in The Bahamas and throughout the world.
I would like to apologize again to you for not having some items in stock due to shipping challenges. Not to worry, these items should be available by the end of this week.
Based on your support and interest, we’ll continue with the African Pop Up Shop on a monthly basis. We’ve taken all of your suggestions into consideration: more activities, African-centered presentations, more varied products, poetry/spoken word, African food, and the list goes on. We’re going to work on delivering all these things to you; one step at a time.
I’ll keep you all up to date with the arrival of new items and our plans for next month. Thank you again for your support and see you all soon!
